Internet Easter Eggs
A media Easter Egg is “an intentional inside joke, hidden message, or feature in an interactive work such as a computer program, video game or DVD menu screen. The name is used to evoke the idea of a traditional Easter egg hunt.” Here are some Easter Eggs hidden around the web.
Google Search
Google is filled with Easter Eggs. In their search engine try to search for “recursion”, “do a barrel roll” or “fun facts”. While on the image search in Google you can search for “atari breakout” and enjoy this retro game right in your browser.
Chrome Browser
In Google Chrome when the connection is lost, you are presented with a page showing a T-Rex to remind you of the old ages when Dinosaurs ruled the earth and had no internet connection. Hit Space on your keyboard or touch the T-Rex on Android phones and the page will turn into a little time wasting game.
Konami Code
The Konami Code is a cheat code that originally appeared in many Konami video games. The player had to press the following sequence to enable the cheat.
Many websites have Easter Eggs that are activated after pressing the Konami Code sequence on the keyboard. And here are few of them.
On the Ask Reddit page hover over the reddit logo and check what it says. SPOILER ALERT !!! It says “Ass Credit”.
